Hi JB

I'm diagnosed Bipolar II/NOS and have always responded very well to all doperminergic substances (medications and recreational...).

I'd suggest trying Pramipexole (Mirapex) first. It's a D2/D3 agonist with preference to the D3 receptor, 'apparently' the D3 is the antidepressant receptor (a very armchair approach there), but it has been the only med, apart from Subutex (a strong opiate) that has almost put me into full remission.

I came off it after about four months to try Trivistal (only reason being their website said it had even more D3 affinity), it didn't have quite the same effect, so I went back to Pramipexole but alas it didn't work again. I was gutted. Lesson learnt, if something works that well, stick with it! Sticking with DA's I also had a partial response to Ropinerole.

Abilify (the newest antipsychotic on the market) would also be worth a shot. It seems the mode of action is it acts as a D2/D3 'stabilizer', neither an agonist nor an antagonist. Again I responded very well to it, but couldn't suffer the akasthesia and severe constipation. Shame really.

I am about to start a session on Amineptine (the only SDRI ever put on the market). I have high hopes for it, but I have to order off the grey market and it'll be expensive too. We'll see what happens though...

Hope this helps

Gary
