I wish I had read this post more closely.

Lamictal is a rather poor anti-manic drug. For what you are looking for, Depakote or one of the atypical antipsychotics might be better choices.

Interestingly, Lamictal can help with rapid-cycling, especially when used in combination with lithium.

I would say that you have no need of Lamictal. You might as well not play with this drug if you have a manic reaction to it, which is not unheard of.
