Ok i actualy wanted to post this here but never got around to it,just a few thoughts and suggestions on maoi issues.

FIRST let me state this is my opinion only, nothing more, from use of the two in question.
I dont understand the big hooplad of washout from Maoi - Maoi, yess there is a differance in method of carrier so a few days might be suffice, but to give it two weeks the same as ssris is just being to overly cautious which in some cases could hurt someone worse having to wait it out rather then starting the new med.

I do totaly agree with washout periods of ssris and maois, and maois and other classes,i just dont when its a maoi-maoi agree more than a day or so is needed, mainly not WEEKS!!!!!

NOTE - I CAN FIND the article, but there was a study i kept where parnate preteatment was actualy done with ,YESS nardil to create the maoi foundation and more so the gaba increase...then parnate would be added alone.

The success rate when this was done was higher then parnate alone, however it was of cource a small study with figures not nearly enough to produce to public, but it was done, again it was NARDIL used priot to parnate as PRE TREATMENT.

NEXT maoi users really have to protect themselves.

Some of the pitfalls can be,...

Your doc one day,out of the blue, feels he will no longer continue you on a maoi, and wants you off,or he wont treat you.

Bad part here, its very possable you can find yourself hunting for a loooong time to replace that doc with another who will use maois period.

Next problem, pharmacy vary, some care very much, some simply dont, and some can go oops we actualy dont have any on the shelf,to we cant seem to re order and so on.

Maois are not like ssris, you cant go to the next pharmacy instead and get it there.

In a mistake i found me and my father years ago calling as far as two citites to find a pharmacy carrying parnate to help me out of my w/d.

These are just some things,i honestly recomend if you are a maoi user, you find a way to get extra, bring in a family member perhaps to talk to your doc,ask for a additonal quantity with a family memember vouching they will hold it and its for emergency only, depending on the doc, this will either be a joke to them or will work 100 percent, ive seen both end results.

Do what you have to not to be on the wrong end of your maoi having some form of issue,do whatever it takes for you to create a small emergency suppply, then give it to a trusted friend or family to hold so you dont mistakenly use it.

This way if a insurance issue comes up,a pharmacy issue,a doc issue, etc, you might not have a full quatnitity on hand, but you wont have to w/d,just cut back which BELIEVE ME IS ARE 2 SEPERATE BEASTS.

Now with the small quantity and if you use then the addition of a benzo you can not be under a total paniack as you begin to remedy the sitituation at hand.

I have many people close to me,myself included who fear what will happen if the drug is simply stopped.

Also i just now recieved a notice that for the new year PARNATE is no longer in my insurances formulary,.....sigh now i have to go and bug my doc to call a number to get a exception.

Being a maoi user does involve a lot more then taking the med.

Sorry for bad grammer, also wish i could have gotten more in,anyway feedback appreciated, bye.
