don't want to insult your intelligence but did you ever read a patient insert which sometimes states: 7-10% of the Caucasian population are deficient in the enzyme CYP2D6.?And the levels of CYP2D6 substrates such as Tricyclic ADs and SSRIs which have ancillary routes of elimination through CYP2C19 may be increased by co-administration with...... (in my case Provigil i.e. modafanil)

I am no expert....just compared Scott's SLS drug compilation AND asked my hubby to get the patient/physician insert that used to come with ALL drugs...(now they just rip them off;sometimes you get one with a drug sample.
The drug store info sheet comes from a Data Bank Company; "A Heart Company" I compared the info from 4 different drug stores and they were all basically the same; word for word.

I hate chemistry. I wish we had a page here naming all liver enzymes and what drugs are eliminated by the enzymes......

I take Provigil and found from insert that higher doses INHIBIT or INDUCE some enzymes, or whatever. We need a layman's explanation of what this mean---- since so many here are taking several drugs. It could save us all some money. And it makes you feel like a weirdo; like u r the exception to the rule..

I have taken so many drugs: SSRIs for menstrual migraines......passed from one dr to another for complaints of fatigue: NOT sleepiness.....TOLD it was depression. I never believed them.

But I kept trying their pills...I reluctantly saw a pdoc cuz I had a bad reaction to Serzone. She used to believe me that I was not depressed..Well, she started me on Provigil that helped with fatigue; then I found out what anxiety and depression were when the Provigil wore off....So then I get Xanax...and eventually Klonopin to sleep. And weaned of Klonopin...HELL

Because I forced myself to look for answers- I basically diagnosed MYSELF with Hashimoto's autoimmune disease. (thyroid underactive)

Why did I have to waste so much time doing research on my own? And paying drs to educate THEM about what I find....

Sorry, i am a mess- in every sense of the word. My brain is mush from these drugs; and I KNOW they caused anxiety, depression, over-stimulated mind, oversensitivity to noise....

and I am afraid they probably interfere with my thyroid medicine... which is why I haven't had much improvement in energy since Nov 2004.

Just a thought- maybe different metabolites use different ??? to be eliminated and at higher doses it is more of a problem inhibition and induction.......or maybe it matters if the drug is conjugated or hydro......it's always something......... florence

I have been told that I am most likely a very poor metabolizer. The drugs I have tried are CYP2D6 so I was wondering if this means I am a poor metabolizer for CYPC19 too?

> The reason I ask is because Celexa is a CYPC19 where as the other ssris I have tried are CYP2D6. I have very bad anxiety trying paxil (2 days) and luvox so they are out. I was wondering if there is hope for trying Celexa or Anafranil? Any thoughts out there? larry? Thanks
