I had very clear SI when I was on Zoloft. As the dose was increased the SI got stronger. My pdoc kept upping the dose figuring that my depression was getting worse. I told him that my depression was getting worse because of the medication. I did tell him I was stopping the med despite his advice to go higher and I said " You will have a dead patient on your hands if I stay on this medication" He finally listened to me and the SI went away once I stopped the med. That was probably around 1995, before they even figured out that SI is a real SE of SSRI's.
That is why you have to listen to yourself and heed the warningss your body gives you.
My philosophy of taking medications is that a med should never make you feel worse than the depression feels. You may have SE's that are uncomfortable or annoying, but any SE that is as serious as suicidal thoughts, can't be and shouldn't be ignored.
