You could try adding vit B6 to help the conversion.
Or maybe you could try 5-HTP instead. Would be especially good if your having trouble converting the tryptophan to serotonin. You can take it with food too to avoid upset stomache (but not a high protein meal). 2-300mg/day is recommended.On the other hand, isn't tryptophan best used to enhance serotonergic drugs? Whilst on Nardil my pdoc offered it to me as an augmentation (as Optimax) but I turned it down believing part of my problem was 'too much serotonin' ('cause of lethargy)!
