In reply to L-tryptophan not helping, posted by Maxime on September 2, 2007, at 19:18:12
I also tried a bunch of supplements recommended by "professionals" who have written books on the subject and who assure you that you will get immediate relief naturally without the need of antidepressants.
So did anything work for me? No, absolutely NOTHING. I tried Sam-e, L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan, 5HTP, GABA, and I can't remember the rest, but it was a whole list--so lots of spending.
I took the supplements based on a book I bought about nutritional psychology by Julia Ross. According to this woman, she'll get patients have IMMEDIATE relief in her office the very first time she sees them just by ingesting a supplement she guesstimates based on the patient's depressive symptoms.
I don't know how reputable this woman is, but at least in my opinion, it seems like nothing of what she says works and it's exaggerated.
Has anyone here read her book?
