In reply to depression - situational or environmental?, posted by becksFLA on July 18, 2007, at 21:41:07

I believe my depression resulted from a trident - nature, nuture and situational stressors. Nature as in I have an organ that dysfunctions. Nuture as in I leaned a number of ineffective coping skills and got good at using them. Situational stressors in that due to the other two, I lacked the raw materials to deal and adapt in a healthy way.

A med helped me beyond my expectations and therapy helped some also.

My insight for myself was great but didn't add up to much until I was willing to use that insight to work on changes that improved my life quality.

I hope you work things out....
