Hi,
I have been on most of the SSRIs, Effexor, Nardil & Parnate. The physical symptoms of coming off these meds has never been bad for me. The MAOIs are the only meds that have really worked for my depression. I was on Nardil for most of ten years. The main problem with withdrawal of Nardil for people like me, with chronic depression, is the return of the depression. For me, this has happened every time I have come off Nardil. Currently, I have been off all ADs for about a month. I'm still taking clonazepam to ease the transisition off the meds. Before attempting this, I had my MD promise to put me back on Nardil if the major depression returns. I can live with dysthymia, I have for 35 years. But, if the major depression comes back, it is right back to the MAOIs. I may end up being a lifer, but it beats the alternative.
Be well,
JediPS This thread will probably get redirected to the withdrawal board.
> When it comes to withdrawals, is it SSRI or MAOIS? Which is more intense? Which lasts longer with a worse rebound? Where does effexor equate in terms of these "on the scale"?
> Any thoughts on this from people who have tried both types of medication?
