A rule that can help as kind of an assist with the dietary restrictions is this: the fresher the food, the safer it tends to be--with a very few exceptions, like fava beans (which are dangerous even when fresh--only food I can think of that is that way). But the chemical (tyramine) that causes almost all the problems is present -only- in aged food: aged cheese, sausages, etc, like mentioned above. Aged cheese is indeed the thing you have to be most careful about.
You can also keep a list of the dangerous foods in your wallet or purse, until you get familiar enough with the restrictions. Reading a few articles on the web might help, too--you could try googling 'MAOi dietary restrictions' or 'MAO diet'.
