It's a little too soon for speculations about weight gain and the possible effects on maoi-a and b at this point.
There could be lots of reasons- even if the Emsam was related to the weight gain. For example, there is transient anxiety-- so maybe you ate a little more for that reason and would ahve lost the weight eventually as you adapted. Or- are you sure, for example, that it was the Emsam that caused it? and that lowering the dose-- as opposed to trying a little harder to lose weight-- reversed the effect?
As for circulating serotonin, I'm not sure there's any evidence for that.
