I have Bipolar II and suffer mainly from depression with bouts of hypomania. My main symptom of hypomania, aside from the fun parts where I have more energy and creativity, is anxiety, irritability and worse - all out rage.

I take 100 mg of Lamictal which seems to help stabilize me, particularly depression wise. When I used it as monotherapy I spiraled into hypomania with the bad parts of rage and anxiety and had to add 5 mg of Zyprexa, and 1 mg of Rivotril (Clonazepam/Klonopin).

I also take 10 mg of Lexapro. I am still on the low side. My PDOC is thinking of switching to Effexor XR as she feels it is a more efficient antidepressant. I'm worried about the awful withdrawal I've heard of if it doesn't work.

In any case, I feel that I need an antidepressant as part of my cocktail. My depression can be crippling.
