You're quite right notfred--I'm well aware of those processes, so you may wonder why I asked that question to begin with, right ?
I was curious to see if I'd get other responses than what I most of the time read or hear about SSRI's.
Then it pretty much tell me that my low libido is dopaminergic in nature--at least that's what is common knowledge. However there are plenty of players in sex drive. Hormones, neurotransmitters, immune system cytokines. In my instance, my PRL is mildly elevated, meaning off the chart by about 2-3 points. I was told that it may not be high enough to affect my sex drive, but the thing is my sex drive is no more, and this has been this way for 8+ years now. I do have occasional peaks though. My Total T was 406 ng/dl the last time it was checked, my FT is lower than it should given it's 2-3% of total t. PRL is slightly elevated like i said above. TSH is fine, FT4 is fine, and although i asked my pcp to test for FT3 it wasn't tested for as the lab only perform the FT3 is the FT4 is abnormal. DHEA-S was fine, Cortisol was low (24 urinary Cort.). I think it pretty much wraps up what my labs revealed.
Last week, all of my hormones were teted again, so I'm expecting results within 2 weeks. I'm also scheduled for a Cortrosyn trial next Friday.
I tell you, my main complaint is with low sex drive, and concentration. Aside from that, I'm not really depressed at all. I'm anxious too, but that is since I took Deprenyl for 3 week one and a half year ago--I ended up with 5 panic attacks after I went off it. now I don't have panic attacks anymore.
