By the way, you asked about why is xanax abused. I have a theory about that. As you know, it is short acting and effective. It also has a reputation for "mood brightening". Benzos also have a reputation of losing effectiveness with long term regular use, meaning more becomes necessary to keep getting the same initial effect. So, especially if a person carries their bottle around, it's not hard to imagine an anxious person starting to take an extra pill here and there, thinking, "just this once!". But it becomes a habit. Then they become used to the self-imposed higher dose, and then have to take even MORE to get the same initial effect. And a terrible cycle can start. I don't think people abuse xanax or other benzos to get high, but as a desperate effort to stave off anxiety. If people just want to get high and that's their goal, I'm sure there are other, more fun feeling ways to do it.
ps- I hear there is a brand new stimulant called vyvanase, which is supposedly non-abuseable. Maybe that would be an option for you? There are some threads here somewhere that talk about it.
