Awsome.Hey- have you considered talking with your doctor about switching to another benzo which lasts longer than xanax? I think xanax is known to not last very long, maybe it's especially true for you? There is also a long acting form of xanax, called xanax xr. Some people like it, others think it doesn't work as well. Maybe give it a test?
Klonopin is a benzo which lasts a long time, but surely there are other options, too. Have you ever tried klonopin? Some people say it makes them depressed, but it never made me depressed, so I don't think that's always true. Plus, I've found it works good for social situations, or for situations where anxiety results in clenched muscles or difficulty breathing. It helps with bodily symptoms as well as mental ones. Like the muscles just let go and relax-feels much better than going through the day all clenched up. Just an idea.
Some people here on babble have written that they like lyrica for anxiety, and have mentioned that it helps them with social anxiety and depression, too. I never tried it myself, can't really tell you any more about it besides that it's not a benzo.
ps- Don't tell the doctor about the grapefruit juice experiment! Bet he or she wouldn't be too thrilled. It's all cool to have told about it here though, of course, but I wouldn't want your doctor to start getting ideas that you are a patient who messes around. That could influence how he or she prescribes for you.
