I stronly recommend you go to www.pubmed.gov to assist you with your research. Put in a search for Akiskal. This would be Dr. Hagop S. Akiskal. He is a pioneer in the study of mood disorders, resistant depression, BPD, just to name a few. I have learned so much valuble information from his books and publications.

You ask for professonal advice. I am a psychiatric nurse from Pa. I have what you would call "soft bipolar". You will learn in your research that there is a broad spectrum to mood disorders. Atypical depression, BPD, social anxiety you describe above can all fit in the bipolar spectrum. AD and a mood stabilizer is very common. Other sites for research are Dr. Ivans Depression Central and psycheducation.org

Hope this helps.
