Well.......

I've not taken lithium personally.....but slow-release lithium is said to be more likely to cause diarrhea, whereas regular lithium is more likely to cause nausea. I doubt this is of any relevance to your personal situation however.

In general, lithium is not the sort of drug which you should feel 'coming on' and 'wearing off'. Lithium is usually dosed so that the blood level remains relatively constant throughout the day. Although lithium can start to 'kick in' fairly quickly, some of its effects build up over several weeks of daily use.
