Yes, the Mayberg procedures were clinically effective. However, I read recently that the procedure produced some cognitive side effects when used for Parkinsons Disease. Unfortunately, I can't find the article I read. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that DBS produces the same effects when used for depression.
