I came off the clonazepam when I decided I wanted to try certain alternative options for my anxiety.
I would not hesitate to go on a benzodiazapine again for anxiety if it was necessary. My experience with them was pretty straight forward, and so long as I withdrew slowly there weren't any problems.
I came off the SSRI's under my own supervision. The doctor knew what was going on, but it happened at home.
When I say I needed to relearn how to walk that may be a bit of an exaggeration. When I stopped the drugs, I could walk in that I could get from point a to point b, but I couldn't walk in that my ballance was way off, my coordination was off, even knowing which foot to put forward.
So, yes I could walk and speak, but much like a 2 year old.
Verbally, I felt like an idiot. I simply couldn't find the words I needed. When I did find the words they would come out all wrong, in the wrong order, etc etc. It took a while to build the confidence to get into a converation with people.
