Linkadge:
This sounds so frightening. The withdrawal from the SSRI. If the benzo was helping, why did you withdraw from them also? Did you take them to help you get off the SSRI? I cannot imagine how devastating these medications can be when you had to relearn how to walk, speak, etc. and that it lasted for so long. Did you tell you doc what you were going through? Do you think you should have been hospitalized or did you go through this by yourself? What do you mean when you say that a single dose of an SSRI will 'ameliorate'? Would you be taking a single dose because you were trying another SSRI?
I have heard about some, but not many people, who can stay on the same dose of a benzo like clonazepam, without needing to raise the dose and would still receive the desired effect. Why did you have to go off of the clonazepam?
Sorry for all the questions. When I read your post I cannot believe what some of these drugs can do to us. I have been on so many I cannot even remember all of them. All I know now that 25 years later I seem to have gone into a different type of depression. I guess my brain chemistry is fried!
