I will leave it to the other posters to discuss the causes of OCD--it has been extensively researched. On a practical level it responds quite well to aggressive CBT (specifically ERP--Exposure Response Prevention) and high doses of SSRIs (Prozac, Luvox and Paxil in particular). Theoretically it should respond to other SSRIs but I know many experienced clionicians appreciate the older ones for OCD. Good Luck fca
