I believe its probably the sulfites. And wine doesn't have to have added sulfites -- some grape varietals and the making of wine causes sulfite buildup naturally. You can get sulfite-free wine at places like Whole Foods, but they may have natural sulfites anyhow (sometimes the bottle says so). Some people are very sensititive to sulfur compounds.
