A reputable doctor would not do that, at least without referring you to another who might legitimately be able to help you more. Maybe you should take it as a blessing, as difficult it might seem now.
There is an anecdote in a new book called "Is It Me or My Meds?" with an anecdote about a pharmacologist leaving a message for a client in effect firing her. The client had voiced frustration with him for not reading a four-page letter her psychiatrist had sent previous to the visit ... in short for not doing his job.
The book also recommends in effect interviewing at least three doctors before you settle on one. Remember, they are working for you -- or should be. Keep trying. I take hope from all the different medication/supplement/life change possibilities I find on this board, and it sounds like you do, too.
