However, I have read that the withdrawal from both effexor and cymbalta can be brutal. Since I am already on an addictive drug, xanax, 1.75mg., I will not subject myself to any others that might cause extreme discomfort. (Yes benzos are the absolute *worst* for many people who try to withdraw, so the decision is yours.
If I were you I'd search the web for withdrawal forums or just plug in "effexor or Cymbalta and see the results. I got scared when I read the anxiety community response to cymbalta withdrawals. I was seriously considering it until I read them. There are whole web sites devoted to withdrawals from Paxil, Effexor, etc. I have been greatly harmed by benzo "dependence" which is the worst of all drugs possible, and I will not subject myself to another drug that will cause withdrawal symptoms severe enough to have websites devoted to them. Just My HUMBLE OPINION. It is a hard decision when you are faced with unrelenting depression, I agree. I just wish I could go back and never have taken that xanax, but now at age 59, I am hooked and I defy anyone to say I am not addicted to xanax. It is a fact of my life. My neural receptors are forever craving that GABAa that is being withheld when I try to decrease a benzo, and the w/d's can be horrendous, worse than heroin or any other drug since they can last for many months.
I am wary of all psych. drugs at this time.
