Just wondering if anyone else has the same symptoms, and is it normal to feel really tired and have no energy on this pill? I have been wondering too, is it ok to just take half the pill? would that make a difference in my energy?
I just stopped taking Remeron after being on it for about 6 months. My highest dose was 45mg. At that level, my mood was good. However, waking up each day was pretty much as you described. I was virtually catatonic for about 1 1/2 hours, just drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Of course, I would eat 2 bowls of cerial while waiting for the coffee to drip through. Basically, at 45mg the drug magnified my vices, which, unfortunately, are many. I had some blood work done after being at that dose for about 2 months. My blood sugar was elevated, my liver enzymes were high, and my cholesterol was up. I also gained 15 pounds. My doctor and I agreed that the disadvantages outweighed the benefits.
I went down to 15mg (yes, I cut the 30mg pill) and started acting more like myself, again. My appetite diminished, I reduced my smoking and drinking and have lost 10 of the 15 pounds I gained. It was also easier to wake up in the morning, but still somewhat difficult. I took 150 mg of trazadone for many years and it was much easier waking up on that than the Remeron, even at 15 mg.
The plus side of the drug was sex. Being 58 years old and having taken 80mg of Parnate for many years along with blood pressure and cholesterol medicine, Viagra had become a necessary companion. No more. On Remeron, I was having sex about 6 days a week with no Viagra. Unfortunately, there was a downside to that, too. I found it hard to concentrate on anything else. It was like being 17 again. I am between antidepressants right now and I'm not sure what my step will be, but I would sure like to keep a decent capacity for sexual function.
I'm sorry I rambled on so, but since this is fresh in my mind, I thought it might be helpful.
