> Hi y'all --
> I'm back. I hate to just keep posting about pain meds, but right now this is my biggest question. All of a sudden my Orthopedic surgeon decided to take me off Vicodin and put me on Darvocet. I have not taken any yet, but I read that Darvocet should not be taken by "people who have been treated for depression". I take WellbutrinSR 200 mgm twice daily and Strattera 40 mgm three times a day. (I have taken both for four or five years) I have severe knee and back pain and am waiting to begin a series of Hyalgan injections in my knees. I had a few Vicodin left so I asked if I could get a prescription and I got Darovcet! (The Hyalgan injections take a couple of weeks to kick in, I have had them before.) Will the Darvocet work as well as the Vicodin? As long as the pain is under control I can function -- without something, I am pretty much laid up!!
> Looking for reassurances Thanks GHYou cannot take darvocet with an MAOI. Maybe that is what is meant by not being for people with depression. It is closely related to methadone so I imagine you can't take that either if you are on an MAOI. Before I started the patch, I took darvocet and alot of it because I am always hurting my ribs somehow, really dumb things. It works great for hurt ribs and hurt ribs really hurt. It does not work well for other things like headaches, for me I mean, but it really did work well for any kind of orthopedic thing I would get, ie. torn ligaments in elbow, constricted tendons in wrist, ribs already mentioned. I get myself beat up alot as I am pretty physically active when I am not too mentally ill. I have taken vicoden now since I cannot take the darvocet and frankly, for me, I think the darvocet worked better.
