Question regarding NRI's (norepinephrine)

Posted by addinbc on May 23, 2006, at 14:26:24

Hello there;

I am currently giving Reboxetine a try for my depression/ADD. Strattera worked like a miracle drug for me until it pooped out about 6 months later (leaving me devastated!).

I have been finding the drug fairly benign with respect to side effects (some constipation, a bit headachy, slight decrease in appetite).

However, it has been affecting my mood in a rather negative way. I started taking 4mg in the morning and 2mg at night. I felt fairly good the first day, really bad the second day, and REALLY good the third day - I had energy and motivation and was able to accomplish alot in that day.

Since then, however, it seems to be making my mood a fair bit worse. I've lowered the dose to 2mg in the morning and 1mg in the evening because the 4mg and 2mg was just obviously too much. I'm wondering if this lowering of my mood is just some sort of adjustment period I need to go through before my system gets used to the drug and I go back to feeling good on it.

I don't want to stay on this stuff if it is going to make me feel bad, but I have heard that norepinephrine drugs can make one feel worse before better because of initial down regulation or something?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thank you for reading!
