On 40 mgs, it began. It got worse and worse as I went up on the dose, finally becoming cystic at 90 mgs. It has improved as I lowered the dose and went off of it but, because it is cystic, will not go away entirely without treatment.
My acne exhibited a very clear dosage pattern with Parnate. My psychiatrist said she has seen this happen with many others she has treated w/ Parnate and that, once someone is off the med, it often requires auxillary treatment to make it go away entirely.
In all of the hospitals I have worked at (though I am verrrry early into med school and have not done a psychiatry rotation yet; this work was all before med school and strictly observation) I have only seen a handful of people on MAOIs so I don't know how common this side effect is, so I'll have to trust my psychiatrist on this one.
