When you say they stop working after a week, I understand that means the nice hypomania is gone, but does that mean that cycling resumes? Or are things stable?
I know you mentioned that you have the atypical thing covered with seroquel, but actually that might not be completely true. They are different enough from one another to be significant. Ziprasidone or abilify maybe. Zyprexa sedation is intense at first, kind of like seroquel is at first, but it fades.
The other thing is depakote extended release. Depakote seems to work best in combination with another mood stabilizer or an atypical AP. I found side effects to be minimal, with some weight gain and some cognitive slowing. It can stop cycling in 1 to 3 days.
Other than that, it might be worth checking thyroid function, if you haven't already...everything includinng TSH, T3free, T4free, reverse T3, and the two antibodies. The antibodies thing is important, because if there is an autoimmune thing going on wreaking havoc, it won't show up on the other tests. No mood stabilizer in the world could compete with a hidden thyroid condition.
