In reply to Meds HAVE RUINED MY 4 YEARS IN COLLEGE, and CAREER, posted by Doug_Saving_The_Team on April 8, 2006, at 20:50:57
First off, I gotta say meds have never helped me, only hurt.
BUT, maybe your situation would have been exactly the same, and/or worse if you were not on the meds?
It's easy to blame the meds, but maybe it's your brain chemistry (like mine), which could be "abnormal", which is causing many of your problems. It's just a guess, since the state of depression treatments in my opinion are still in the dark ages.
My main question is, if you weren't getting relief on the meds, and worse yet, they were "hurting" you, why did you and/or your doctor keep you on them? I've been pulled off of many, many drugs, especially one that gave me a suicidal episode!!! I've also pulled myself off of many drugs that were hurting me rather than helping.
On a positive note, the body has an amazing ability to recover and improve itself with the right diet, exercise, etc, etc. I wouldn't give up hope that you are permanently (and unrecoverably) damaged, *especially* at your age.
I'm still trying to hold onto that belief at 37.
