Is there any point in my having a CT Scan?

Posted by deniseuk on March 21, 2006, at 12:02:39

Hi,

My pscyhiatrist is sending me for a CT Scan, I think it's just part of the process of things to do when standard Antidepressants fail.

I told him that I couldn't see the point as I doubt they'll find anything and suggested he sent me for an fMRI instead but he wasn't ameniable to this telling me that the local hospital doesn't have MRI Scanners.

Anyway, I'm going to go along for the scan but it seems a waste of time, does anyone have any thoughts on this. I think the psychiatrist is just sending me to eliminate any other problems but it seems a waste of time.

Would a CT Scan show whether or not part of my brain has shrunk with depression?

I'm just interested to know if there has been any structural damage.

Denise
