Can someone explain dopamine receptors to me?

Posted by kotsunega on March 11, 2006, at 13:52:28

Hello All,

I recently switched from Zyprexa (a dopamine D1 antagonist, I believe) to Abilify (a dopamine D1 agonist). Dopamine D2 - D3 agonist/antagonist action figures into all of this some way, too, but I forget how.

I'm feeling a bit less foggy, but would like to know if this is due to the dopamine agonist-antagonist change or something else?

I also find my Adderall is more effective, but I've also switched from Prozac to Effexor, and don't know if this has any bearing on the effects of Adderall or not.

Can someone explain to me what the various dopamine receptors do and what happens when they are altered by agonist or antagonist properties? Thanks!!
