My epocrates suggests it be started at 10mg three times per day and increased 10mg/day every one to three weeks as necessary to a max of 60mg/day (or 20mg three times per day). Has this been your experience as well?

While this doesn't necessarily make sense to me pharmacologically in that the same active ingredient and dose is present, I would never argue with an individual's own personal experience with the two "versions." Still, I'm in a dilemma as to whether I should go ahead and try Nardil for my social anxiety (which along with Klonopin seems to by far be the best treatment) or go with Parnate, which also appears to be quite effective.

If the difference is negligible, would it be worth just going with Parnate for now in light of the "controversy" surrounding the Nardil versions? And last but not least, is there much of a difference in terms of side effect profile?

It would be great to have a daily med like an MAOI to go along with my prn Klonopin/Provigil, hoping that weight gain and/or sexual side effects wouldn't be too much of a burden. After all, SSRIs have been a bust and I'm running out of options.

For me, Nardil did relieve my depression, however the side-effects were horrible. Insomnia, Night Jerks, Terrible anorgasmia the whole time I was on it 3 1/2 mos. I couldn't ejaculate. It was just a very *strange* drug for me, But if you try it you may do much better than I did.

> I increased my dose pretty rapidly..Low doses of meds never work for me and my pdoc knows this so he let me increase dose aggressively.Day 1 and 2: 30 mgs. all in morning
Day 3 thru 5: 40 mgs. all in morning
Day 6 thru 8: 50 mgs. all in morning
Day 9 thru 15: 60 mgs. all in morning, this is when I felt it start to work...it was and still is wonderful! You know how you take ssri's, snri's, TCA's and don't really feel anything. MAOI's are different you actually feel them working and it is an awesome feeling.
I'm currently at 80 mgs. all in morning and doing great. Want to stay at this dose if possible. Taking all in the morning works great for me, I feel good all day long, and taking them early (7:00 a.m.) allows them to wear off some before bed to help prevent insomnia.
For ME, Parnate is more effective against Social Phobia than Nardil. I currently have no social phobia at all. Some people will tell you just the opposite that Nardil is better. But, what I want to emphasize is that Parnate works better for ME not EVERYBODY! Take care Bud..hope this helped a little.
