I've been reading some previous threads and it seems there is some debate as to whether the "new" Nardil is as effective as the previous. While this doesn't necessarily make sense to me pharmacologically in that the same active ingredient and dose is present, I would never argue with an individual's own personal experience with the two "versions." Still, I'm in a dilemma as to whether I should go ahead and try Nardil for my social anxiety (which along with Klonopin seems to by far be the best treatment) or go with Parnate, which also appears to be quite effective.
Based on personal or anecdotal experience from others, is Nardil an overall superior med for social anxiety than Parnate? If the difference is negligible, would it be worth just going with Parnate for now in light of the "controversy" surrounding the Nardil versions? And last but not least, is there much of a difference in terms of side effect profile?
Thanks for your input. I'm meeting with my Psychiatrist tomorrow, and will likely bring up the possibility in our discussion. It would be great to have a daily med like an MAOI to go along with my prn Klonopin/Provigil, hoping that weight gain and/or sexual side effects wouldn't be too much of a burden. After all, SSRIs have been a bust and I'm running out of options.
