> I take 300 mgs. of Trazodone at night for Parnate induced insomnia.I know it's a high dose anything less than this does not work for meand my pdoc told me to try it. I also take 50 mgs. of Benadryl. The Benadryl helps me fall asleep, while the Trazodone keeps me asleep. This combo is working beautifully for my insomnia..I sleep great.

It's ruining my great response with Parnate..I'm not depressed or anxious, just so damn sedated. My pdoc is excellent, I have an appointment this Friday afternoon, however, He doesn't like non-benzo hypnotics i.e., ambien, lunesta, etc. says they can exasperate depression problems. He doesn't know I'm taking the benadryl. I take it for allergies...only at night, and I simply cannot fall asleep without it.

Its curious that you can tolerate Trazodone with Parnate because it is considered a major drug interaction -- perhaps the level you are on doesnt produce this as much. 600mg I think is considered an full adult dose. Benadryl is a medium drug interaction too. Lunesta doesn't appear to have any interactions with tranylcypromine, so I wonder about this prescribing -- but as usual, check with your doctor. (Drugs.com has an interaction checker -- other sites do too)
