I take 300 mgs. of Trazodone at night for Parnate induced insomnia.I know it's a high dose anything less than this does not work for meand my pdoc told me to try it. I also take 50 mgs. of Benadryl. The Benadryl helps me fall asleep, while the Trazodone keeps me asleep. This combo is working beautifully for my insomnia..I sleep great.
Here's the problem. I wake up feeling extremely groggy, and worse of all I'm freakin' drowsy all day long! It's ruining my great response with Parnate..I'm not depressed or anxious, just so damn sedated. My pdoc is excellent, I have an appointment this Friday afternoon, however, He doesn't like non-benzo hypnotics i.e., ambien, lunesta, etc. says they can exasperate depression problems. He doesn't know I'm taking the benadryl. I take it for allergies...only at night, and I simply cannot fall asleep without it.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
