In reply to Ambien/Zolpidem Addiction???? HELP!!!!, posted by TwstedPrixie on February 8, 2006, at 17:22:00
Ambien has been very useful for me, but rebound insomnia with dicontinuation is a real problem. I also think it is important to take it as you turn off the light, and make sure you've given yourself enough sleep time. I and my wife have taken it and stayed up talking or something then drift into dreamlike state. I've never heard of anything bad happening, like that, but I feel to be on the safe side, just let it work when you are already laying down preparing for sleep.
I did take it in the day once for a long nap and that was disaster.
If you've decided for sure you are going off, I suggest you look up and read about good sleep hygiene. (if I'm saying a bunch of obvious that you and everybody knows, sorry). Hygiene is not about cleanliness in this case either.
