I've taken Selgiline at 10mg once a morning, plus 1500 mg of PLPA at the same time (PLPA comes in foods, and no, it won't do anything by itself, it's synergistic).

My professors for the first time caught me smiling, at different times that day, without me realizing it. It was a bit embarassing, but it had to do with me spacing out for a bit and thinking of something happy while sexual concerns in literature happened to be discussed in both classes at both times, and each happened to single me out. I thought it was funny afterwards, though, a marker my depression was abiding.

It does act quickly. But keep in mind I too thought SSRI's, which I had tried all for anxiety at some point, would never work for my recently (a year and 1/2) depression that felt like complicating my problems.

Well, I was also on Lexapro, working on that dose, upping it to 30mg (if on Celexa, that's like 60mg Celexa).

So I was on Lexapro for 30mg for 3 months, a decent dose, and began adding without telling my doc (so he could keep tweaking Klonopin up a bit more, which I needed to happen after being off of it so long from prior doc).

I believe I got it shipped from some place that charged reasonable prices, like $80 or $120 for a 4-month supply of 5mg doses taken twice daily.

I could trust it, 'cause it had the Sanafioa-Synthabio blister pack brand all over the packets (it's now called Sanafoia-Aventis). It was shipped in a padded envelope from the Ukraine or some place like that.

I took it for 4 months, after that, felt it was erroneous, as my depressive symptoms were largely in remission, just had to deal with a bit of anxiety.

A year later, with having maintained my dose of Lexapro 30mg daily since 9/04, my anxiety even without Klonopin is quite dead. I only take Klonopin now 'cause Desoxyn makes me anxious. Otherwise, I'm calm as people can ever hope to be without either Klonopin or Desoxyn.

Moral of story: Just take an SSRI, keep in mind major depression/anxiety/obsessive thoughts is not ever going to go away with just 4 months of some SSRI, and don't be afraid of depression like I was-- that how I got depressed- stopped SSRI's and stuck to Klonopin, only to find what depression was for the first time a few months later, and took months to admit to myself I needed an SSRI.

My doc said, "90% of my patients with depression or anxiety have both. When the anxiety is killed, so is the depression."

Don't think you're immune to depression, because you haven't gotten it yet, and SSRI's haven't worked for your anxiety. All the more reason to stick with 'em, up the dose as much as you can, and, tweak with your Klonopin.

Of course, studies are very clear on one point, always: you 1/2 your chance of remission from anxiety or depression when you don't follow through with regular, weekly Cogntitive Behavorial Therapy.

Drugs only go half way. It's up to you to do the rest.
