In reply to there such thing as hypomania with panic attacks, posted by rjlockhart on November 21, 2005, at 19:56:57
Matt, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I have bipolar II and have hypomania and had 2 panic attacks in my life. I know the panic attacks feel so horrible. Hopefully, you have some antianxiety meds that can help combat them. I haven't had panic attacks for some time now, after going on meds, but when I look back on them, I think it might've helped me just to really try to breathe, to calm down, maybe get some exercise during the day. During the panic attack, if you can just remember that you're really not going crazy; that this too shall pass. Try to breathe and calm down. I hope I don't sound too simplistic about this. Maybe only meds can help the panic attacks sometimes. Just wanted to say I can relate at least in a sense with my experience, and I really hope you feel better soon--and get the help you need and really deserve! I second other posts to your later posts--I hope you have a really good pdoc and therapist who can help you. In terms of insurance, maybe you could investigate also if there's a good community mental health clinic near you? I go to one, and I think they have a sliding scale for fees for patients without insurance. If you could just report your own income, maybe you could get cheaper services?
Thinking of you and wishing you all strength, Lucia

> The worst is having manic with a panic attack that is the most horrid, paranoid, anxiety to the max, pacing, looking up on the net what symtoms of insanity are.

> Usally when im mildy manic im confident about myself, feel good, feel inner determination. anxiety and panic attacks are sometimes a reaction to a belief that is false that is felt or belief at that time, such as im very confident, im not this way, there something wrong. React with panic, intense fear.
