Yeah, cache-monkey got it exactly right. The D2 antagonism is a factor. The increase of norepinephrine release from buspar's metabolite is a factor. And for some people, just the serotonin agonism all by itself creates an akathisia type syndrome. Buspar is a weird med. I don't think it is nearly as benign as doctors say it is. I've seen cases of it inducing parkinsonism. And when it does work for someone, it only seems to work for a few months.
