Speech and coordination where ok.Probably because you weren't accustomed to 6mg of Klonopin at one time (It wouldnt do alot for me since I'm at high dose Valium). Temazepam is probably a better choice of benzo for short term sleep deprivation.

Benadryl can also be of some use for temporary insomnia but I know for me that it both takes a while to work and it causes depression the following day.Better off with the medications intended for sleep like Ambien or Lunesta.
For a period of time you could also use Trazodone, although its a kinda nasty way to go to sleep in my opinion. It lowers your blood pressure and makes you dizzy. Of course that's the same effect I get from Seroquel at night if I stay up long enough for it to take effect.
