Benedryl does work somewhat, but if I take it I make sure that I take it early otherwise I'll be groggy for half the day. It seems to have that affect for at least 12 hours. My doctor gave me a new sleeping pill, Luneseta. It's narcotic free and not a benzo. I took it for the first time last night and slept great. I'm told to use it as needed. I think it's like other sleeping aids including benedryl that if you take it every night it will lose its affectiveness. Ambien did nothing for me. My sister likes taking Halcion on occation.......
