From what I have experienced and seen in others over the years, any psychiatric med can cause depression or worsen existing depression. It is a minority of cases, but it does happen, and it is almost always listed in the side effects table.

I've been on lexapro for 3 weeks. I have noticed a pattern. I wake in the morning, feel fairly decent, take my dose, then a few hours later start getting blah, and then actually get depressed for an hour or two, and then I feel perfectly fine in the evening. It repeats every day. The only thing I can think of is that it is the lexapro.
