When I started Cymbalta, I had some side effects that bothered me, but they pretty much all faded away by the end of about two months. If you find the Prozac is too anxiety producing, you could give Cymbalta another go and see if yours do, too. When I say that I was "bothered," by the way, think of poor chemist calling me daily to remind me that I could get through it, that I would never know if it could help if I didn't give it a chance, that nothing would help me if I gave up after a week, etc. Poor guy did more than his share to keep me on it, and without that I couldn't have done it.
A year later, I'm still on it, and it does help. For me, it was just getting past that first adjustment period.
Prozac sends me over the edge -- instead of thinking I may as well be dead, on Prozac it seems that getting dead is a really high priority. {shrug} Everyone is different, and your mileage will vary.
By the way, whoever suggested Effexor might be on to something for you. It can be very good for anxiety.
Hope something in there helps.
