It usually takes a few weeks for the meds to fully kick in. Maybe she acted better last week because she was relieved to have been given hope with trying a new med.
That is such a hard time of life without all the other stuff going on; I raged through my high school years, but no one considered depression. I went through similar circumstances with my parents although it was my dad running around and my mom losing it, then it was up to me to 'take care of her'--horrible. I was pissed at my dad for YEARS and of course the rebellion I started was out and out war, directed at them both.
I would guess that your sister IS angry by what you've described. I'd be more worried if she wasn't angry.
How far away from your sister are you? It would be a great time for you to spend as much time with her as possible even though she may not particularly want you around. Just for her to know you're there and you love her. If you're not able to be there in person, a card and heartfelt letter would say a lot.
I'm not so sure Effexor is addictive, there are just bad side effects when coming off of it. I doubt she'd ever be looking for an Effexor fix once she's off it.
