A funny thing about trazadone...when I was taking it to combat Effexor insomnia, it was AWFUL! The next morning I felt as if I'd polished off a bottle of booze the night before and needed to eat to settle my stomach.
So I switched to 25mg doxepin which has worked well, but my body has adjusted to it and it doesn't sedate me as much as I'd like to to. Other than that I'ver no side effects from the doxepin.
I just started Remeron and I really like it so far...out like a light with no side effects and a lighter mood the next day. I need to discuss a long term prescription for this with my doc in a few weeks.
I've never tried Elavil, but my father was on it before he died a little over a week ago and he had been switched from Remeron to Lexapro to Evavil for reasons unknown to me, so I could try it (shhhhh) since he has leftovers. His doc said it would be good for his nerve pain, which I have been living with for some time.
Back to the Trazadone. I recently tried it again because I had run out of doxepin and it didn't make me sick at all the next day. Could this be because I am also taking Klonpin at bedtime? I can't figure out how my reaction to it could change so drastically in just a few months. Well, I have rambled enough. Any thoughts on this? Maybe Elavil would be better for me than Remeron if it indeed helps with chronic nerve pain.
Thanks,
Colleen
