The 5-HT1a receptors is a very exciting receptor, but as I recall, Buspar is only a partial agonist, not a full agonist. So I think that limits its theraputic effect.

In theory, agonizing the 1a receptors increases dopamine output in the prefrontal cortex, which would have a pro-sociability effect while simultaneously (but indirectly) decreasing anxiety via lowering output from the PFC to the amygdala. Only problem is, Buspar rarely seems to have a strong effect, if any at all, in a lot of people.

As for the OCD, I haven't heard of any studies or stories of it helping OCD, but who knows.
