I take Parnate. Luckily I was living the U.S. at the time (I'm Canadian). If I had been here in Canada I am sure I would not be on one.
I literally went to at least 6 different pdocs until one said "yes". When I would walk into the appointment and they would ask "what brings you here?". I would tell them that I had been on over 40 different meds and that I had done a lot of research on MAOIs and I believed they would be right for me. When the 6th pdoc said "I totally agree. I use MAOIs for many of my patients and I think you would do well on one", I started to cry.
We picked Parnate because I don't do well on meds that are sedating. And the rest is history. Within 2 weeks of taking the med people at work were commenting that I seemed much happier. I just told them that I had finally adjusted to the move.
Then when I wanted to add a stimulant to the Parnate, I brought in articles to my pdoc here in Canada and he was willing to give it a go.
So that is how it came to be. :-)
