Hi:
Like you, ... I am NOT able tolerate any of SSRIs, then first was rx'ed Serzone/Nefadozone. After having a bad 'concentration' along with 'energy' issues, my pdoc. added Wellbutrin SR, started out on 150 mg. and moved up the 300 mg. However, for some reason, the effectiveness of Serzone/Nefadozone ceased after more than 3 years. The pdoc. rx'ed Trazodone for its replacement, 300 mg.. However, this 'mass dosage, I knew I never got up next morning, then I went on my own way, ... from 50 mg. to 225 mg. and stay this 'same' dosage for the past eight months or so.For me, Trazodone and WB combo. for a depressive side of Bipolar II has been working REALLY well. I've also been on Zyprexa 5 mg. and Lithium 900 mg. in conjuction with those 'two' ADs. Everyone seems NOT prefer to take the Trazodone, except 'sleep' aid, however I love this med., Trazodone.
One suggesion/advice for you, ... probably, you may need a 'booster' med. for Trazodone, since this med. is one of 'older' and 'weaker' ADs, as others mentioned, above. In my case, three other meds., Zyprexa, Lithium and plus WB sr all seems 'big' helper to the Trazodone. I, too agree Trazodone alone does NOT work on depression. Needs other 'bosster' med./meds. in order to get 'desirable' efficacy.
H.G.
