hi Colleen,
I know it sounds like a lot, but you did say that some of them are short-term.If there were known drug interactions, your pharmacist would have flagged it for you.
I know for sure that in people without heart or blood pressure issues, that guaifenisin, pseudoephedrine, advil/tylenol are a safe combination. That's a very typical over-the-counter cold remedy.
I think that the zithromax, albuterol and naxonex all have well-defined and separate functions, so they probably would not interact at all.
Also, I think that most anti-depressants are safe with all kinds of medicines. They caution you about taking them with things like tagamet or other acid-reducers, because that can change the way the medicine is absorbed.
I guess the real question is: How do you feel? Do you feel OK? (except for being sick!) If you're not having any issues, then it should be fine. I guess the only thing I'd personally check would be blood pressure, if you have any issues with that.
I think the FDA does studies where they give people multiple meds & see if there are interactions. They also study people who really take the meds & use reports from docs to understand interactions.
I hope you're feeling better soon!
take care,
JenStar> Does anyone wonder how they, I guess I mean the FDA, determines drug interactions? I go to a couple different sites when I'm adding something to the mix, but I still really worry about the number of drugs I am taking, especially right now as I'm trying to recover from my first adult ear infection. All three chldren have it too!
